Order of Worship
Our
worship follows the Book of Common Prayer which uses the ancient
pattern of Christian worship in Word and Sacrament. What follows
is our typical Sunday Morning Order of Worship.
Opening Acclamation We proclaim that we are here to bless God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit A Hymn
Music which calls us to worship Collect for Purity A prayer for God's cleansing preparation Songs of Praise Contemporary in feel, but eternal in devotion Scripture Lessons & Psalm Hearing God's word in Community Homily (Sermon) The proclamation of the Gospel preached by the Apostles Nicene Creed A weekly reaffirmation and confession of the faith of the historic church The Prayers of the People A
time of prayer together in which we pray for the Church, our community,
nation, and world, those in any need, and acknowledge those who
have gone before us in faith and who are now united with us in the Body
of Christ. The Confession of Sin We acknowledge that we are sinners and that God is the one who reconciles us to himself through Christ. The Absolution Hearing
a human voice, ordained by the Church for this ministry, declaring the
truth that our sins are forgiven and we are strengthened in Christ
right here and now. The Peace A moment of reconciliation in which we demonstrate that God's mercy is given to us that we might pass it on to others. The Offering We offer up to God our whole selves, and put this in concrete form by the giving of offerings to the Lord. The Great Thanksgiving The
prayers of the Eucharist service, which acknowledge that our Lord
instituted this table for his people to commune with him together as
his people. All baptized believers in Christ are invited to
celebrate his supper together. The Administration of Communion We
take this bread and wine, the gifts of God for the people of God, in
remembrance that Christ died for us, and feed on him in our hearts by
faith with thanksgiving. The Post-Communion Prayer We are now sent out into the life of the Gospel, in the power of the Holy Spirit The Blessing We hear the voice of blessing and peace, enabled by the Spirit of God to enjoy the light of his grace. The DismissalWe go in peace to love and to serve the Lord. Thanks be to God!
